Heathrow Airport to invest 50m on new scanners
Heathrow has announced that they intend to spend £50m on updated scanners meaning passengers will no longer have to remove laptops and liquids from their bags. The investment is hoped to significantly speed up security checks, reduce queues and waiting times.
With the world becoming more plastic aware it’s also hoped it will slash the use of the single-use plastic bags currently being used.
PIA flight delayed when passenger deploys the emergency chute
A flight from Manchester Airport to Islamabad was delayed on Friday after a passenger opened the emergency exit door thinking it was the toilet. The plane's emergency then deployed causing a delay of over 7 hours for the passengers. The incident is being blamed on a lack of staff as opposed to the passenger’s lack of brain cells.
Beware of the £10 can of coke
Hot on the heels of Venice and Rome the Gate restaurant in Rhodes stung a British tourist for 82 euros for 8 soft drinks. When she confronted the owner he simply thanked her. The tourist has since taken to social media to warn other visitors to Rhodes to avoid the restaurant.
The incident follows the story about the £15 ice creams in Rome and the £15 cup of coffee in St Marks Square in Venice. These blatant rip-offs, however, can’t compete with the £1000 a group of Japanese tourists were charged for a plate of fried fish and four steaks sparking outrage from the Mayor of Venice himself. On all of these occasions, the restaurateur has justified the prices they charge citing that prices are clearly displayed.
