Flights to and from Pakistan heavily disrupted

Date: 27 Feb 19

There has been heavy disruption to flights to Pakistan with PIA particularly struggling to put on flights to Lahore which is close to the Indian border.

The impact has also reached other airlines as Pakistan airspace is used by a number of airlines flying to and from East Asia.

The delays have been caused by the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India following an Indian incursion into Pakistan territory and the subsequent shooting down of an Indian jet.

All flights via Pakistan have been cancelled and are scheduled to restart around the 4th March 2019.

Thai Airways has cancelled all flights flying over Pakistan whereas British Airways and Singapore Airlines have rerouted their flight plans but they have warned that despite the flights going ahead there could be a need for a refueling stop on some routes.
